Babys First Day Home

Writen by Nick Young

The parenting revolution. Do we go round in all sorts of parenting fashions or what. What was quite normal a few year ago is now considered all wrong and you must do it all a new and different way.

Do you think kids generally today are more balanced, better adjusted and better behaved. Thought so and I wonder why. When you conceive and baby arrives, you are parents whether you like it or not and must assume all the responsibilities that go with it. Parenting is constant hard work and that is what puts most parents off and why many kids today are completely lost emotionally, and every other way.

If you want to be a responsible parent. If you love your kids intensely and want only the very best for them in life then you must start your parenting off on the right foot on day one.

So lets look at it. Baby arrives home and is ushered into his new room and we tip toe about so as not to disturb him. All of our usual activities are curtailed and the other kids are 'bound and gagged'. Does this sound right to you. You probably said yes but think about it. Baby is coming into your environment. He is the one that should adapt to your lifestyle , not us changing our lifestyle to fit him into our family. Baby has had months of 'internal living' and has now arrived into a new world. He has had no input from anywhere and so is untainted in his 'thinking' by external sources. So he will adapt to whatever situation he finds himself in. I remember one of mine on the day he arrived home, was in a crib in the living room with a ladder over him to the ceiling and cornice being installed with much banging and nailing. This was on his first day home and it did not faze him one bit. So let baby be a part of your family with all it's natural noises from day one and you will find you will have far less hassels with bed times for instance later on. You will see how it is easy to have baby into a regular bed time pattern in no time. That is next time. Catch you then..Nick
