If you are like most parents-to-be, you are not sure where to start when it comes to deciding how to plan and design the baby's room. You should first start by determining your budget. How much money you are able or willing to spend will influence many of the decisions you make when choosing items for your baby's room.
Once you have set a budget, stick with it by making a list of all the items you plan to buy for the baby room such as furniture, bedding, art work, paint supplies, etc. and allotting a set amount of money for each of the items on your list.
Next, begin thinking about the look and feel that you envision for your baby's room. Do you want to use a certain theme, style, or color scheme for the room? What are you looking for in your baby nursery furniture? Do you want furniture that will grow with your baby through their toddler and childhood years or do you want a set that will be replaced in a couple of years? Do you want designer pieces or are you looking for an discount furniture? You will also want to make sure that the furniture that you have in mind will fit into the space you have available. Making important decisions like these before you start to actually decorate the baby room will make the whole design process go more smoothly.
Once you have set your budget and made the major decisions regarding the baby room design, it is time to start shopping. Purchasing the baby bedding and furniture first usually works best since they are the two major design elements in the room. Once you have these items purchased, it is easier to pick out paint colors, wallpaper, art work, and other essential items like lamps and window treatments.
The most important things to remember while you design your baby room is to create a space that you and your baby will enjoy and to have fun with the experience since designing your baby's room is a joyful occasion that you should be able to look back on fondly.
